Yes postpone European tour for guitarist Steve Howe to undergo “essential operation”

Yes have postponed their European tour so that guitarist Steve Howe can undergo essential surgery.

The upcoming 11-date tour was set to kick off on April 22 in Glasgow, with the band due to perform their seminal, critically acclaimed 1971 album ‘Fragile’ in full. It follows a North American leg of the tour, which took place last year.

However, the band have now issued a statement announcing the tour’s postponement so Howe can have an “essential operation that requires recovery time”.

“This decision has been made to ensure that Steve can return to the stage in full health and deliver the performances that fans deserve,” they wrote. “We are working hard to reschedule the UK and EU shows to a later date, with full details to be announced after Easter. Please retain your tickets as they will be valid for the rescheduled dates. Tour dates currently being arranged for later in 2026 will proceed as planned.

“Steve Howe and YES would like to thank their UK fans and hope for their continued support at this time,” they added. There’s currently no word on when the new dates will be announced.

Howe is the only remaining member of the ‘Fragile’ lineup still in the band. The group currently consists of singer Jon Davison, bassist Billy Sherwood, drummer Jay Schellan, and keyboardist Geoff Downes.

Former Yes keyboardist Rick Wakeman played his final solo tour in the United States in 2024, stating when it was announced that it was time “to call it a day”.

The year prior, the band sold the rights to their recorded music catalogue under Atlantic Records – comprising their first 12 studio albums, as well as various live recordings and compilation albums – to Warner Music Group (WMG).

In other news, last year a rare studio recording of Yes covering The Beatles‘ ‘Eleanor Rigby’ resurfaced online.
