Watch Marcello Hernández Confess to Rosalía at Madison Square Garden

During the second night of her Lux Tour at Madison Square Garden Rosalía invited Saturday Night Live cast member Marcello Hernández to give his confession. During the show, the singer welcomed her “queridisísimo” to the stage for a segment where she asks notable guests to speak candidly.

“Marcello, you know we’re here — you can speak in Spanish, in English, however you like. But it’s very important to tell the truth here,” Rosalía told Hernández, who also made an appearance at Sabrina Carpenter’s Madison Square Garden show last year. “So, is there something you’d like to confess?”

Bueno, I have a story I’ve never said before,” he responded in a mixture of Spanish and English. “Something that happened to me 10 years ago. I was 18, 19. I was just starting my career, and it was Valentine’s Day. I invited a lady over for dinner at my apartment.”

“Did you cook?” Rosalía asked. He confirmed: “I cooked. I was using a YouTube tutorial. I set the table: fork, knife, spoon — formal. I bought two bottles of wine with my fake ID. I committed a crime for this lady! One wine for the meal, another wine to drink. I made the effort.”

The comedian continued, “She told me she was on the way. Then, she told me she was a little bit late. And then, she told me she was really late.” He confessed, “And then I drank a bottle of wine on FaceTime with my mom.”

Earlier this week, Rosalía tapped singer Maggie Rogers to appear as part of the confession. The singer-songwriter had a truly wild story about a date with a New York Times journalist who, she said, took her to his office conference room for a make-out session at 1 a.m. — only for her to learn later that he had a girlfriend.

Other confessional guests on the tour have included Cara Delevigne, Aitana, Lola Young, Bad Gyal, and Barça player Kika Navazreth.

Rosalía released her latest album, Lux, last fall. The LP notably features her singing in 13 different languages.  Rolling Stone lauded Lux as an instant classic, calling it “a truly timeless work of art” that “no other pop star could have made.” The singer’s tour continues through the U.S. in June and early July before she heads to South America. It is currently set to wrap in September in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
