The students from Pittsburgh’s Faison and Westinghouse schools made an appearance during his opening slot on Drake and J. Cole’s It’s All A Blur tour
For 20 students at Pittsburgh Faison and Pittsburgh Westinghouse in Pennsylvania, a school field trip didn’t mean an excursion to the zoo or a museum. Instead, the crew of elementary and high school students took a trip to PPG Paints Arena on Saturday evening to sing with Lil Durk in a performance of “All My Life” during his opening slot on Drake and J. Cole’s It’s All a Blur tour.
Dr. Kimberly Price, coordinator of performing arts for Pittsburgh Public Schools, was the first line of contact for bringing this opportunity to life. “I was over the moon,” she told CBS News about her reaction to the email containing Lil Durk’s request, adding: “To have a team that came together like they did from our communications department to our teachers who gave up half of a day on a Saturday, people want our kids to do well, and our kids do.”
Released less than a year ago, “All My Life” appeared on Lil Durk’s eighth studio album, Almost Healed. The record originally featured J. Cole and won the Grammy Award for Best Melodic Rap Performance earlier this month.
Still, during this particular performance, the experience these fifth and sixth-grade students, as well as some older high school students, received was an award of its own.

“He was so gracious with the kids. I wish you could have seen it. He was giving kids high fives, [and] fist bumps. Originally, with the pictures, he stood to the side so the kids could get the spotlight they deserved,” Price shared about the rapper’s interactions with the students after the performance. Each student also received $100 for their efforts.
“Our kids were like, they were so excited, they were crying,” Price added. “It was a moment I will not forget, to see the kids do so well and be treated so well by an artist; they won’t forget it either.”
