Willie Nelson announces new cannabis cookbook

Willie Nelson is set to release a new cookbook of cannabis-based food recipes.

The country musician revealed he had stopped smoking marijuana due to health concerns in 2019, but is said to still vape and eat edibles. Now, he has teamed up with his wife Annie for a collection of “cannabis-infused delicacies”.

Willie & Annie Nelson’s Cannabis Cookbook is due to arrive on November 12 via Gallery Books (pre-order here). The 256-page book combines Nelson’s “gift for storytelling and herbal remedies with his wife Annie’s passion for home-cooked meals”, per an official description.

It adds: “In the Nelson family’s first-ever cookbook, we’re cooking with good vibes only. Drawn from their favourite meals on nationwide tours, at the ranch, at home, and in their favourite cities along the way, these recipes have stories to tell – and what better way to enjoy a good meal than with a high-flying tale and a relaxing buzz?

“Each recipe provides a cannabis kick to ease the mind as much as the body, making their cookbook an exciting, comforting, and lively way to dive into their story, as they draw from meals shared with family, friends, and fans alike.”

The book includes “delicious and easy” recipes for Buffalo wings, chocolate cake, fried chicken and more, showing fans how to make “only the good stuff”. Additionally, it features an extra chapter “providing a full suite of cannabis-infused base ingredients – cannabutter, finishing oil, simply syrups, sugars, salts, and tinctures”.

Although this is Nelson’s debut cookbook, he has previously written two New York Times bestsellers with his memoirs Willie: An Autobiography (1988) and The Facts Of Life And Other Dirty Jokes (2003).

Nelson recently collaborated with Beyoncé on the song ‘Smoke Hour’ from her latest studio album ‘Cowboy Carter’.

Next month, he’ll embark on his North American ‘Outlaw Music Festival Tour’ with Bob Dylan. Select dates will feature performances by Robert Plant & Alison Krauss, John Mellencamp, Billy Strings, Brittney Spencer, and Celisse. Find any remaining tickets here.

In other news, Nelson teamed up with Orville Peck last month for a cover of Ned Sublette’s ‘Cowboys Are Frequently Secretly Fond Of Each Other’.
