SZA Extends ‘SOS’ Deluxe Album ‘Lana’ With More Songs Ahead of Super Bowl Halftime

The new tracks dropped as she prepared to take the stage with Kendrick Lamar at Super Bowl LIX

In just a short while, SZA will take the stage with Kendrick Lamar during his Super Bowl LIX halftime show set at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans. The performance is another marker in the rapper’s latest victory lap, but SZA has been on one of her own since releasing SOS in 2023. In December 2024, the musician released Lana, an extended version of the record that added 15 more songs to the album. Now, she has deployed a double deluxe version with even more songs.

It includes new songs “Joni” featuring Don Toliver, “Take You Down,” “Open Arms” (solo), and “PSA.”

SZA initially announced the extra set of songs less than a week after Lana arrived. But with most of the industry out of office for the holidays, the release was delayed for a few weeks. On Jan. 6, when fans expected the project to arrive, SZA broke the bad news of an additional delay, though she eased the pain with teaser trailer. The snippet previewed one of the tracks she created with collaborator Jay Versace.

But the good cop/bad cop act didn’t entirely satisfy her fanbase. Complaints continued to roll in about the release date being indefinitely pushed back as if SZA hadn’t just delivered more than a dozen new songs less than two weeks prior. “I used to think sharing snippets, personal info + music tea would build connection but it actually just made ppl entitled ungrateful and disrespectful,” she wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “It’s time to restore the boundary.”
