See Black Crowes Bring Out Steven Tyler to Perform ‘Mama Kin’ at London Gig

The Robinson brothers, who also welcomed Jimmy Page to their concert, are set to rejoin Aerosmith’s “Peace Out” farewell tour in September

The Black Crowes brought out soon-to-be tourmate Steven Tyler for a rendition of Aerosmith’s “Mama Kin” during the band’s London gig Wednesday.

“If it is alright with y’all, we wanna play one more song. We wanna dedicate it to somebody who is a dear friend, and a hero, and a legend, Mr. Steven Tyler,” Chris Robinson told the crowd at the Eventim Apollo during the encore. “We will be touring with Aerosmith soon, so we wanna play one of his songs. Thank y’all! We’ll see you when we see you!”

To the crowd’s surprise, the Black Crowes then welcomed Tyler to the stage to perform the 1973 single. Jimmy Page, with whom the Crowes toured in 2000, was also at the gig and posed for a photo with the Robinson brothers and Tyler backstage.

When Aerosmith launched their farewell tour back in September 2023, the Black Crowes were on board as the trek’s special guest, but just three gigs into the “Peace Out” tour, Tyler suffered a larynx fracture that postponed the farewell jaunt indefinitely.

The rescheduled dates were finally announced last month, with the “Peace Out” dates resuming in September 2024 and the Black Crowes — who are currently touring in support of their own new album Happiness Bastards — back in the opening slot.

Earlier this week, the Crowes also released the music video for “Wilted Rose,” featuring Lainey Wilson. The country singer appears on the track on Happiness Bastards and joined the Robinsons onstage in Nashville during their tour kickoff.
