Rick Ross’ Drake Diss Video Is Actually Self-Promo (And It’s Genius)

Rap star dropped “Champagne Moments” after Drake released the Kendrick Lamar (and others) diss track “Push Ups”

Rick Ross didn’t have to give his Drake diss “Champagne Moments” a video. But he did — and he used it to promote his own stuff.

On Tuesday, Ross released a visual for his recently-released diss track, which simply sees the Miami rapper sitting on a stool in front of a Chevy Bel Air and surrounded by bottles of alcohol he gets paid to endorse. Oh, and a conveniently placed poster promoting the 3rd Annual Rick Ross Car Show. (It’s on June 1 in Fayetteville, GA by the way.)

The visual simply splices different clips of Ross smoking a spliff, rapping his bars in which he repeatedly calls Drake a “white boy” and accuses him of getting rhinoplasty, along with closeups of the Luc Belaire Sparkling Wine and the Rick Ross Bumbu Rum he endorses.

The visual comes about a week after Drake responded to Ross’ diss with “Push Ups” last weekend.

While the bulk of that track was aimed at Kendrick Lamar and Metro Boomin, Drake also targeted Ross on some bars for intruding on the beef. “Can’t believe he jumpin’ in,” Drake said of Ross, who is “turnin’ 50.” “Every song that made it on the chart, he got from Drizzy,” Drake rapped. “Spend that li’l check you got and stay up out my business.”

In the visual, Ross seemed to allude to Drake’s line about him taking weight loss drug Mounjaro (also used to treat type 2 diabetes) by uncovering his belly and grabbing it before letting out a laugh.

The beef that’s shaken up hip-hop’s upper echelon was sparked weeks ago by Kendrick Lamar’s Drake and J. Cole-dragging verse in Future and Metro Boomin’s “Like That.” J. Cole initially responded with his own “7 Minute Drill,” a track he later said he regretted during a speech from the stage at his Dreamville festival.
