Noel Gallagher defends not doing Poznan at Man City game after Liam calls out “poor behaviour”

But unlike the huge sea of Man City fans surrounding him, Gallagher refused to join in with the Poznan (where fans link arms, turn away from the pitch and begin bouncing).

Images and videos of the moment subsequently went viral, with some people suggesting that the unimpressed-looking Gallagher could have been shooting the cover art for his next album.

The High Flying Birds frontman’s estranged brother and former bandmate Liam also called out his “poor behaviour” in a post on X/Twitter.

Noel has since spoken out about being spotted at the game during an interview with talkSport. “You don’t really know until you leave the ground and your phone explodes,” he explained.

“I have to say, in my defence, on Saturday I was still feeling the effects of a rather spectacular night out.”

Noel continued: “So even if I’d wanted to join in the Poznan I don’t think I’d have been able to!”

However, the musician was seen celebrating Phil Foden’s goal to put Man City 2-0 up by fist-pumping in the crowd.

Elsewhere in the interview, Noel was asked whether there was any jeopardy in supporting a side as dominant as Man City.

He responded: “I think there’ll be a certain section of the fans who will have no nerves but the people I go with are from a different era so we’ll always have nerves.

“We’ve supported the team for like 50 years, but the younger generation think we’re going to walk it and that’s it.”

You can check out the full interview in the video above.

In other news, Noel Gallagher recently revealed that he had “scrapped” his planned acoustic album. He explained that the material was “too down”, adding: “I need to make a defiant rock record and that’s what I’m gonna do.”
