Nancy Sinatra Slams Trump for Sharing Frank Sinatra ‘My Way’ Video: ‘Sacrilege’

The singer took aim at the president for sharing a clip of her father performing the classic tune in 1974

Nancy Sinatra criticized Donald Trump for posting a video of her father Frank Sinatra performing his 1969 song “My Way” on Truth Social over the weekend.

On Saturday, the president inexplicably posted a clip of Sinatra singing the iconic tune at Madison Square Garden in 1974. One of Sinatra’s fans brought it to her attention on X, writing, “Omg, @NancySinatra will not be happy about this. Trump goes against everything that Frank stood for. He was a big champion for equality and supported the Civil Rights movement.”

Sinatra responded, “This is a sacrilege.” After another fan asked if there was anything she could do to prevent Trump posting the song she replied, “Unfortunately no. The only people who can do something are the publishers.”

Frank Sinatra recorded “My Way” in 1969. It is an English-language adaptation of a French song, “Comme d’habitude,” which was written by written by Jacques Revaux, Gilles Thibaut, and Claude François. The English version was written by Paul Anka. This means that the song’s publishers, Because Music and Primary Wave Music Publishing, hold the rights, not the Sinatra family. Over the years, “My Way” has also been performed by Elvis Presley and Sid Vicious.

Still, Sinatra, a vocal opponent of the Trump administration, made her feelings on the subject clear. She reposted a fan’s tweet that read: “Trump may love Sinatra, but Sinatra did not love Trump.”

In December, Sinatra responded to a video of ICE officers harassing construction workers, writing, “This is not my father’s America. He would be devastated. Trump is so wrong in so many ways.” When someone commented, “Your Dad would have loved Trump,” she responded, “Do some homework before you make a fool of yourself. My dad LOATHED Trump.”
