Machine Gun Kelly & Trippie Redd Bring the Emo-Raps for ‘Genre : Sadboy’ Project: Stream It Now

Machine Gun Kelly and Trippie Redd have teamed up for their Genre : Sadboy EP, which hit streaming services on Friday (March 29).

The EP is free of guest features outside of the Ohio duo and boasts 10 tracks in total including their pensive “lost boys” single.

If Drake made For All the Dogs, this one’s for all the sad boys. Trippie and MGK have had no issue opening up about their struggles and relationship tribulations in the past and they’ve joined forces to deliver piercing emo-raps.

Diplo was hyped to hear that MGK and Trippie were connecting as he chimed in with an Instagram comment last week: “This is going to [be] f—–g good!”

MGK and Trippie have proven to be a dynamic combination while collaborating on genre-blending records over the years like Hotel Diablo‘s “Candy,” Tickets to My Downfall‘s “All I Know” as well as “Red Sky” and “Pill Breaker.”

Genre : Sadboy is the first project offering of the year for both Machine Gun Kelly and Redd. The pair released solo singles earlier in March before “lost boys” arrived this week.

The Cleveland native’s last released a rap album in 2019 with Hotel Diablo which followed MGK’s lucrative rock pivot. 2022’s Mainstream Sellout debuted at No. 1 atop the Billboard 200 with 93,000 album units sold.

Trippie kept busy last year feeding fans with essentially three different projects between Mansion Musik, A Love Letter to You 5 and the Saint Michael V2 deluxe.
