Earlier this month, Sumney and Paramore‘s Hayley Williams teased the single, which released last night (May 8) via Tuntum Records. The song is a psychedelic, sensual cut that sees both musicians duet over dreamy synths, a choir and dazzling keys.

The track comes with an accompanying lyric video starring Sumney and Williams as they sit in a trench during a photoshoot, taking turns to mouth along to the song. Moses Sumney also dons a wig throughout the shoot to match William’s hair.

The pair duet on the song’s climactic bridge: “I don’t wanna sing if it’s all a dream / That means nothing to you / My lips clutch when you open up / ‘Cuz I don’t know what to do / I like it, I like it too much“.

‘I Like It I Like It’ marks the first time both artists have collaborated together. Prior to ‘I Like It I Like It’, Hayley Williams featured on hardcore outfit Turnstile’s ‘Seein’ Stars’, which also features Blood Orange’s Devonté Hynes.

Late last December, Hayley Williams teased the possibility of a string of solo shows in 2025, five years after she had originally planned them. The singer’s first solo studio album ‘Petals For Armor’ was released in May 2020 and Williams had intended to play the record live on a UK and European tour that month, before plans had to be shelved amid the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.

She has since released her second solo record ‘Flowers For Vases / Descansos’ in 2021, but has yet to play a sustained run of solo shows to support either release.

As for Moses Sumney, the new song marks his second release of the year, following ‘Hey Girl(s)’ with Syd and Meshell Ndegeocello in February. He released the ‘Sophcore’ EP last year, as well as a standalone single ‘You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real) with Sam Smith and Lyra Pramuk in November. His last album was 2020’s ‘græ’, and he released a concert film before taking a hiatus from music. In 2023, he starred alongside The Weeknd, Lily-Rose Depp, Troye Sivan and BLACKPINK‘s Jennie in the HBO series The Idol.
