LIDO Festival cancels CMAT and Bombay Bicycle Club days, reschedules Maribou State

LIDO Festival has rescheduled its Maribou State headline show and cancelled the days topped by CMAT and Bombay Bicycle Club due to concerns about the grounds at Victoria Park.

The East London festival launched last year after being announced in late 2024. It is run by AEG Presents, who also organise All Points East, BST Hyde Park, Forwards and more.

It was set to return in mid-June for the 2026 edition, and would see CMAT top the bill on June 12 with support from Father John Misty, Sharon Van Etten & The Attachment Theory and more, before Bombay Bicycle Club headlined (performing their 2009 debut album ‘I Had The Blues But I Shook Them Loose’ and 2010 follow-up ‘Flaws’ with Metronomy, Alice Phoebe Lou, Billie Marten and Lucy Rose) on June 14 and Maribou State capped things off on June 20 with support from Kelis and Folamour.

Now, festival organisers have revealed that both CMAT and Bombay Bicycle Club’s days have been cancelled, and the Maribou State show has been moved to August 31.

This they explained, has been done in order “to protect park grounds”.

“Protecting the condition of Victoria Park is of paramount importance to LIDO and to London Borough of Tower Hamlets (LBTH), the statement read, noting that last year’s festivals on the site saw severe issues with dust, and led to an “extensive reseeding and improvement programme” being implemented to protect the land.

While this has been “highly successful” and means that the park is “now in great condition for everyday community use”, the ground is reportedly not yet prepared to withstand the footfall from a three-day festival.

The decision to cancel and reschedule the event, organisers added, was made after “advisors recommended giving these newly improved areas a little more time” to settle following a unusually rainy winter, and has been done to “ensure the outcome best supports park users and the wider community”.

“Any changes are in no way the fault of the artists or London Borough of Tower Hamlets, all of whom have been fully supportive,” the update continued. “There is no impact on LTH, and all financial commitments and AEG’s support for community programmes in the borough remain fully protected. LTH has also confirmed that this adjustment allows LIDO organisers to continue to deliver proposed capital investment for Victoria Park.”

Tickets already sold for the Maribou State show will be accepted for the new August 31 date, and those with tickets to CMAT and Bombay Bicycle Club dates are requested to visit LIDO’s website for refunds.

“I am very very sorry to tell you that due to issues with the ground at Victoria Park, Lido Festival has to move to new dates in August, and as a result, I – like others on the bill – am no longer able to play,” CMAT wrote in a new message to fans.

“I am truly devastated not to be able to play this festival. I realise this will cause issues for some of you who have bought tickets and may be travelling and for that I can only say sorry.”

The inaugural 2025 edition of LIDO Festival was headlined by Massive Attack, Jamie xx, Charli XCX, London Grammar, and Outbreak Fest with Turnstile.

All Points East is still scheduled for Victoria Park in August, headlined by Lorde, Twenty One Pilots, Jorja Smith, Tyler, The Creator and Deftones at Outbreak. Visit here for tickets and more information.
