Kim Petras “going through some health issues”, cancels summer 2024 festival shows

Kim Petras has revealed that she is “going through some health issues” and has cancelled her summer 2024 festival shows.

The pop singer took to her official X/Twitter account to share the news of her cancellation of all 2024 summer festival performances. “My buns, I’m devastated to be writing this but I’m going through some health issues and under medical advice I have had to make the hard decision to not perform at festivals this summer. I love u so much and I’ll make it up to you and be back better than ever very soon,” she wrote.

Petras was due to perform at this year’s edition of Primavera Sound, Mighty Hoopla, Primavera Porto and Capitol Hill Block Party. Primavera Sound took to their official X/Twitter to wish the ‘Coconuts’ singer a speedy recovery.

“We are really sad to learn that Kim Petras won’t be able to perform at this year’s edition of Primavera Sound Barcelona,” they wrote. “We wish her a speedy recovery and hope to welcome her soon to our festival.”

Mighty Hoopla also shared a statement in regard to her cancellation that read: “We are sending so much love to Kim and will update you on our lineup very soon”

In other news, Petras was one of many artists who have signed an open letter warning against the “predatory” use of artificial intelligence (AI) in music.

On April 2, non-profit organization Artist Rights Alliance issued an open letter titled ‘Stop devaluing music’ about the rise of AI in music, signed by over 200 prominent names in the music industry. Read the full letter here.

She also recently opened up about her views on the representation of female sexuality in pop music, saying she believes “everybody should be equal”.
