Janelle Monáe, the Roots, Jacob Collier Lead Stacked Newport Jazz Fest Lineup

Raye, Willow, De La Soul among other stars performing at this year’s festival

Newport Jazz Festival has unveiled a star-studded lineup for its summer weekend. Janelle Monáe, the Roots, and Jacob Collier will headline the three-day event, which will take place Aug. 1-3 at Fort Adams State Park in Rhode Island.

The rest of the bill is just as stacked. Raye, Willow, Esperanza Spalding, Jorja Smith, De La Soul, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Thee Sacred Souls, and Sofi Tukker are among the other acts performing this year. Plus, there will be an all-star cast for the Big Band set, assembled by artistic director Christian McBride.

Tickets for the festival are on sale now with different ticket options: Three-day weekend entry is priced between $265 and $312, while single-day tickets cost $111. The fest also features special pricing for students, who can acquire three-day tickets for $188 and single-day entry for $64. A VIP Jazz Lounge weekend pass goes for $1,488, with access to a separate festival entrance and a tented lounge.

Last year’s Newport Jazz festival was headlined by André 3000, Elvis Costello, and Laufey. Brittany Howard, Nile Rogers & Chic, and Robert Glasper were on the bill as well. Plus, jazz legends Danilo Perez, John Patitucci, Terri Lyne Carrington, and Ravi Coltrane honored the legacy of Wayne Shorter, the saxophonist who died that same year.
