The opening gig of Oasis Live 25 saw the Britpop icons make their grand return after 16 years away, playing to a sold-out crowd at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff and rocking through a setlist of their greatest hits.

They kicked things off with ‘Hello’ – marking the first time they’d performed the track since 2002 – before launching into ‘Acquiesce’.

Now, if you missed the moment live, you can watch pro-shot footage of the band performing the latter track, as well as the crowd’s reaction to the long-awaited gig. Check it out on NME‘s Instagram below.

Oasis also shared behind-the-scenes footage of Liam and Noel Gallagher walking to the stage together for the first time since 2009, which you can also see below.

Elsewhere during the highly anticipated reunion concert, the band played hits like ‘Morning Glory’, ‘Cigarettes & Alcohol’, ‘Supersonic’, ‘Half The World Away’ and more. They closed out their first gig in 16 years with a powerhouse trio of hits: ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger’, ‘Wonderwall’ and ‘Champagne Supernova’.

Both brothers took turns poking fun at Ticketmaster’s dynamic ticket pricing system – something they’ve publicly denied knowing anything about.

The gig also included a tribute to late Liverpool star Diogo Jota during a performance of ‘Live Forever’. Jota was killed in a car crash on Thursday (July 03) at just 28 years old.

Check out their complete setlist and footage of the gig here.

NME gave the historic gig five stars, in a review that read: “After a ‘90s heyday and an often maligned post-millennium era, this is Oasis redesigned for the 21st Century. Playing before a pop-art-meets-psychedelia visual spectacular that never distracts but will look sick on a phone, they seem the quintessential stadium band playing the greatest hits of greatest hits.”

Fans have also shared their takes, with one deeming it “better than Jesus’ return!” and another adding that the brothers’ reunion is “the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen” and “the moment we were all waiting for”.

Following last night’s show in Cardiff, Oasis, Cast and Richard Ashcroft will play a second date in Cardiff tonight (July 5) ahead of five homecoming shows at Manchester’s Heaton Park, seven nights at London’s Wembley Stadium, and stops in Edinburgh and Dublin. Later on the Oasis Live ’25 trek, they’ll head to North America, South America, Australia, South Korea and Japan.

Last month saw Liam and Noel appear together in an Adidas Originals advert as part of a new partnership with the brand. They also teamed up with Bohemian FC for a new football shirt to mark their return.
