James Bond orchestral concert leads BBC Proms 2026 line-up

A night dedicated to the music of James Bond will feature as part of this year’s BBC Proms.

Conductor Daniel Bartholomew-Poyser will conduct the BBC Concert Orchestra in a “musical homage” to the beloved character, performing hits from films such as Skyfall, The Spy Who Loved Me, and more. Ted Lasso star Nick Mohammed will host the event, held on August 25 at the Royal Albert Hall. The performance will also be broadcast on BBC TV and iPlayer.

The Proms season, which runs from July 17 to September 12, will also feature a tribute to Disney composer Alan Menken, the man behind the scores of The Little Mermaid, Beauty And The Beast, and Aladdin, as well as a tribute to prog rock, a celebration of Miles Davis’ centenary, and a range of American music concerts to mark the 250th anniversary of the signing of the US Declaration of Independence. Full details can be found here.

Music remains a vital part of the James Bond franchise, from the famous signature theme written by Monty Norman, to the title songs that have been a feature of all but two movies. Top artists from every era have contributed songs, from Shirley Bassey’s ‘Goldfinger’ in the ‘60s and Paul McCartney and Wings’ ‘Live And Let Die’ in the ‘70s, to modern classics such as Adele’s ‘Skyfall’ and Sam Smith’s ‘The Writing’s On The Wall’ (for 2022’s Spectre).

Recently, Lana Del Rey released the song ‘First Light’ for the forthcoming James Bond video game. The singer had previously written the track ’24’ for Spectre only for it to be rejected, later appearing on her album ‘Honeymoon’.

The next James Bond film is still in development, with speculation surrounding who will perform the next theme song. Olivia Dean’s success at the recent Brit Awards have made her a favourite with bookmakers to be chosen.
