Forget About the ‘Toxic’ Mom Drama, Hilary Duff Has One Thing On Her Mind in New NSFW Single: Getting Busy in the Back of a Dive Bar

Perhaps you’ve heard about the drama bubbling up after High School Musical star Ashley Tisdale posted an essay on The Cut recently — under her married name, Ashley French — in which she said she was removing herself from a “toxic” mom group she’d previously been friends with.

Speculation has swirled that one of those moms may be former Lizzie McGuire star and pop singer Hilary Duff, an allegation Duff’s husband, singer/songwriter Matthew Koma smacked down on Tuesday in a sarcastic post featuring the fake headline: “When You’re The Most Self Obsessed Tone Deaf Person On Earth, Other Moms Tend To Shift Focus To Their Actual Toddlers.”

Well, forget all that because Duff dropped a taste of an upcoming single from her first new album in a decade on Wednesday (Jan. 7) and let’s just say the snippet is spicier than a jalapeño margarita with a shot of cayenne pepper.

“I only want the beginning, I don’t want the end/ I want the part where you say goddamn/ Back of a dive bar giving you head/ Then sneak home late, wake up your roommates,” Duff, 38, sings in a sunny Instagram video in which she’s lip synching the airy pop tune in a lush green field while wearing a body-hugging yellow dress.

Hang on, because on the song that appears to be about what if feels like when things go from red hot to ice cold in the bedroom, Duff is just getting started talking about how a relationship went from ripping off clothes on the way up the steps to mouth guards and separate beds.

“I want the highlights, 10 out of 10/ The butterflies from holding your hand/ Before we swept us under the bed/ And we became practically roommates/ I’m touching myself by the front door/ But you don’t even look my way no more,” she laments.

Fans were freaking out in the comments, with one calling it the “song of the year,” another panting, “OH MY GOOOODDDDD?!? I NEED THE FULL SONG IMMEDIATELY” and one opining, “the lyrics are giving Lizzie McGuire all grown upppp.”

Though the new single’s title and release date have not yet been announced, back in November, Duff announced that she was gearing up to release her first album in more than 10 years, Luck… or Something.

Her sixth LP, the follow-up to 2015’s Breath In. Breathe Out, is set to drop on Feb. 20, and in a statement at the time the singer said, “I am often asked how I still have my head on straight after growing up in this industry. The album title is my way of answering that question. It’s luck, but there’s also a lot of weight in the ‘… or something.’ Many of the things I’ve been through along the way are held there, and I feel like ultimately that’s what’s shaped me.”

Duff released the first single from the upcoming album in November, the bubbling “Mature,” which was co-written by Koma and Halsey collaborator Madison Love.
