The film was recorded at Berlin’s legendary Hansa Studios, with director Paul Dugdale (Adele: One Night Only, Elton John: Live From Dodger Stadium) following Yungblud as he performs his latest album ‘Idols’ for the very first time.

As well as a one-take performance of each track, the film gives fans a glimpse at the singer, aka Dominic Harrison, during a pivotal stage of his career.

At the premiere last week, Yungblud reflected on working with Grammy-nominee Dugdale, and said it had been “a crazy journey” to work alongside him on the project.

“When I had this idea, my bucket list director was Paul [Dugdale] because I knew he’d tell the story with truth and authenticity,” the singer said. “You have to be willing to allow the uncomfortable and the scary to be shown to the world, and I hope you love it.”

He also told NME recently about the impetus behind making the film. “With this album, I made a conscious effort to not over explain what it was about,” he said. “This film will really show people what I was going through when I was making it. It’s a hell of a film. I watched it once, approved it, but I’ll never watch it again – It’s too uncomfortable.”

In a four-star review of the film, NME wrote: “The relief and triumph in Hansa Studios when Yungblud and his band finally nail ambitious stadium rock anthem ‘The Greatest Parade’ is palpable and their first big night out together in more than a year ends up as wonderfully messy as you’d expect. Guitarist Adam Warrington (who co-wrote half the songs on ‘Idols’) reflects on meeting Harrison for the first time as teenagers before touring the world together. For all Yungblud’s talk of idols, art and the truth, it’s these glimpses of camaraderie that are the most inspiring.”

The film shows Yungblud performing ‘Idols’ in its entirety. His fourth studio album, it was released in June via Locomotion Recordings/Capitol Records and was the result of a four-year recording period that began before the release of previous album ‘Yungblud’.

‘Idols’ was produced by Matt Schwartz, a longtime collaborator with Yungblud who has also worked with Massive Attack and Kylie Minogue.

Yungblud plays:

‘Hello Heaven, Hello’
‘Idols Pt. I’
‘Lovesick Lullaby’
‘Zombie’
‘The Greatest Parade’
‘Change’
‘Monday Murder’
‘Ghosts’
‘Fire’
‘War’
‘Idols Pt. II’
‘Supermoon’
