This year’s edition saw Green Day using their headline set to slam President Donald Trump and Elon Musk, and Cradle Of Filth frontman Dani Filth proposing to his long-term girlfriend Sofiya Belousova during the band’s performance.

Elsewhere, Vengaboys made their debut at the festival and pulled a massive crowd performing at the ‘District X’ site.

KoRn also said that Sleep Token “shut everybody up” with their headline set, after some festival goers had been surprised at their place on the line-up.

Their performance came after festival organiser Andy Copping spoke to NME about the importance of creating a platform for new and emerging talent. “I’ve always wanted to do that, and you can see it in how we’ve been developing the other stages like the Dogtooth stage and the Avalanche,” he said.

“For us, it’s about giving bands the opportunity to grow. We’ve got the platform and we want to be sending a message to those guys like ‘Come and play. We believe in you and you’ve got a great opportunity here.’ Thankfully, for the most part, these bands do step up and they do deliver.”

In other news, fans are pushing for a stage at this year’s Download to be named in honour of the late Ozzy Osbourne.
