Chung Ha reunites with I.O.I bandmates in festive ‘There Goes Santa Claus!’ music video

Chung Ha has released a heart-warming visual for her new holiday track ‘There Goes Santa Claus!’, where she reunites with her ex-I.O.I bandmates.

On Christmas Eve (December 24), Chung Ha released special visual for her song ‘There Goes Santa Claus!’. The track was first released earlier in the month on the single album ‘Christmas Promises’, which was led by the single ‘Sleigh’.

Filmed in the style of a home video, the new clip features Chung Ha celebrating the holidays with friends, colleagues and staff members over a hearty meal, conversation and party games. Notably, several of the singer’s former I.O.I bandmates, including Lim Na-young, Kim Se-jeong and Jung Chae-yeon, make cameos in the video.

It never rains when you let it snow / Can you hear his ho-ho-ho? / Holding onto the reins in his big red coat / Don’t forget to keep the door open for tonight / ‘Cause the chimney’s gotten a little tight / Hear the sleigh bells ringing, there goes Santa Claus,” she sings in the chorus.

This marks the first time in four years since members of I.O.I have had a public reunion. Back in May 2021, nine of the group’s 11 members – excluding Kang Mina and Zhou Jieqiong – got together to hold a livestream commemorating the fifth anniversary of their debut. Zhou later joined via video conference.

‘Christmas Promises’ also marks Chung Ha’s third release since her move to Jay Park’s label More Vision, following her August single ‘Algorithm’. The first had been her March single album ‘Eenie Meenie’, which featured the B-side track ‘I’m Ready’. Earlier this month, NME named the latter one of the 25 Best K-pop songs of 2024.
