Billie Eilish Shares Creative Vision Behind Her James Cameron-Directed Concert Film in New Trailer

Billie Eilish has shared a new trailer for her forthcoming 3D concert film, which she co-directed with James Cameron.

In the clip, Eilish and Cameron discuss the creative vision behind Billie Eilish Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour (Live in 3D), with Cameron noting, “This is going to blow people’s minds.” The trailer reveals how the 3D camera were set up during Eilish’s headlining tour, including putting one inside a glowing box with the singer. “We’re going to have to play some games, but we’ll make it look great,” Cameron says.

The trailer showcases the tour itself, including the crowd jumping along to Eilish’s performance of “Bad Guy.” “I want it to feel like it’s me and them,” she explains of the tour experience. “I love that.” She adds, “I want to be the artist I would want to be a fan of.”

Notably, Eilish also reveals that she tries to have a “puppy room” backstage at every tour stop, where local rescue organizations bring in adorable dogs for her and the crew to cuddle before a show. “Everyone needs some dog love,” she says.

Billie Eilish Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour (Live in 3D) was originally scheduled for release on March 20. In January, Cameron shared on Threads that it was delayed to May 8. “We’re refining the cut; dialing in cool, new 3D tech; adding some special behind-the-scenes we know you’ll love,” Cameron wrote. “Worth the wait!”

The film was captured during Eilish’s four-night stretch of shows in Manchester in July 2025. The musician teased the project onstage: “I can’t say much about it. But what I can say is that I’m working on something very, very special with somebody named James Cameron, and it’s going to be in 3D. So, take that as you will, and these four shows here in Manchester, you and me, are part of a thing that I am making with him.”

In October, Eilish told WSJ Magazine, “I’m really excited for all of it, and I’m so excited for the fans to experience this 3D situation that we’re working on. It’s nothing I’ve ever done, and I haven’t seen anything really like it, and I’m just kind of blown away at every step of the process. He spends the entire show [framing the show] in front of all of the screens, and he just never quits. He never yawns, and he’s so respectful of what I want.”

The concert film will mark Cameron’s first release since Avatar: Fire and Ash premiered in theaters in December. Eilish’s last concert film, Happier Than Ever: A Love Letter to Los Angeles, was released in 2021.
