Beabadoobee shares pensive new single ‘Take A Bite’ and announces new album ‘This Is How Tomorrow Moves’

Beabadoobee has dropped her pensive new single ‘Take A Bite’ and announced her third studio album, ‘This Is How Tomorrow Moves’.

Her new album is scheduled for release on August 16 via Dirty Hit, where the Londoner has shared her first taste of the record, ‘Take A Bite’.

Produced by the legendary Rick Rubin and long-term collaborator/bandmate Jacob Bugden, ‘Take A Bite’ was recorded at Rubin’s famous Shangri-La studio in Malibu. Pre-order/pre-save the record here.

‘Take A Bite’ sees Beabadoobee reflect on a cycle of negative thoughts and her desire to indulge in those behaviours over a 90s folk rock-inspired instrumental: “Sure it’s easy to talk, but I take it and eat it with a cherry on top / Indulging in situations that are fabricated imaginations / Moments that cease to exist / Only want to fix it with a kiss on the lips.”

The singer-songwriter said of her new song: “It’s me feeling introspective about my thoughts and unhealthy way of living. It’s finding comfort in a familiar place – finding comfort in chaos, because that’s what I know. So I bring it into every aspect of my life, especially with relationships.

She continued: “It’s just tapping into this part of my brain where I just jump straight to the most negative, most chaotic thought ever known to man and make and make that into my reality.”

Beabadoobee has also shared further details on her upcoming album, saying that the record has “helped me so much more than anything else has in navigating this new era, this new understanding of where I’m at. I guess it’s about becoming a woman.”

“I think I’m more aware of my actions in these songs,” the singer added, elaborating: “In my previous records, I would consistently sing about my reaction towards other people’s doings, like a blame game.

“But in this record, it’s accepting that there’s an inevitability of my fault in there too. Whether it’s childhood trauma or relationship issues, it takes two to tango in everything.”

‘This Is How Tomorrow Moves’ will be the follow-up to Beabadoobee’s second album, 2022’s ‘Beatopia‘. In our Big Read interview with the musician, Beabadoobee opened up about collaborating with The 1975‘s Matty Healy, saying he was “like an annoying older brother”, adding: “Matty’s amazing at lyrics, so he really helped me in that way. And he offers me so much advice about songwriting.

“And it’s really helpful having him in my life as a music mentor and as a friend who has amazing life advice. I think he has a way of finding a sentence that really fucking hits you.”

In other news, Beabadoobee has shared her cover of ‘It’s Only A Paper Moon’ for Jack Antonoff’s The New Look soundtrack.
