Avril Lavigne shares faithful cover of Alanis Morissette’s ‘Ironic’ from ‘Mile End Kicks’ soundtrack

Avril Lavigne has shared her faithful rendition of Alanis Morissette‘s ‘Ironic’ from the Mile End Kicks soundtrack – take a listen below.

The pop-punk singer has covered the Canadian classic for the upcoming Mile End Kicks movie, keeping the original instrumentation intact while adding her own powerful vocals on top.

The rom-com stars Euphoria‘s Barbie Ferreira as Grace Pine, a young music critic who moves to Montreal in 2011 to write a novel about Morissette’s seminal 1995 album ‘Jagged Little Pill’. Devon Bostick and Stanley Simons also join the cast of Mile End Kicks.

Lavigne and Morissette have previously duetted ‘Ironic’, teaming up to perform the song at the House of Blues in Los Angeles in 2005. Lavigne was brought out as a surprise encore guest at Morissette’s concert there.

Take a listen to Avril Lavigne’s version of ‘Ironic’ down below:

Alanis Morissette will be touring the UK and Ireland this summer for a series of huge outdoor gigs.

The dates follow her triumphant UK and Ireland shows last year, including a sold-out night at The O2 and a career-defining Glastonbury debut.

From next June, Morissette will be playing a show in Cork, Ireland, where she’ll follow up with concerts in Exeter, Woodstock, and Glasgow. Alongside another stop at Lytham, she’ll then host a giant show at Crystal Palace Park, London, on July 4.

Skunk Anansie will be joining as special guests, and Wet Leg will be acting as support for the Glasgow gig – visit here to get your tickets.

In other news, Alanis Morissette will replace Neil Young as a headliner for the State Fayre Festival in Chelmsford after his tour cancellation.
