“DEADASS SAME,” wrote SZA on social media after Roan called her the ideal song partner
A SZA and Chappell Roan song might just break the internet. On Wednesday, SZA shared a clip of Chappell Roan saying her name after being asked to name her “dream collaborator.” It turns out, Chappell is SZA’s ideal duet partner, too!
“[I] actually didn’t believe this quote when I saw it written til I saw it come out her mouth just now CAUSE DEADASS SAME,” SZA wrote on her Instagram story, sharing a clip from a fan account. “Pls we must.”
SZA has long shared her admiration for Roan. After her Lollapalooza performance last year, SZA shared a video of Roan’s lucha libre-inspired performance with the caption: “She makes me wanna keep making new music n art forever.” She also commented “I LOVE HER” under a Rolling Stone post about her GovBall performance earlier that summer. (Both stars performed at both festivals last year.)

Most recently, SZA mentioned Roan during an interview with Jennifer Hudson about her favorite songwriting and how “there’s a lot of deep storytelling that really reflects their human experience” in the way artists such as Roan, Taylor Swift, and Olivia Rodrigo pen songs.
In the JHud interview, SZA also admitted to offering to write for Taylor Swift when they bumped into each other at the Grammys. “It’s so interesting to me. Every time she walks up to me or approaches me, I’m just like, ‘All right, this is happening, because that’s fully Taylor Swift,’” said SZA. “I think what I mentioned was that I would love to write with her and love to build some things together.”
