Lady Gaga and Doechii have joined forces for the charismatic new single ‘Runway’, written for The Devil Wears Prada 2 soundtrack.
The new collaboration was first revealed earlier this week when it was previewed in the latest trailer for the film, which is the long awaited sequel to the 2006 comedy starring Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, and Emily Blunt.
It marks the first time that the 16-time Grammy winner Lady Gaga and two-time Grammy winner Doechii have come together.
The track centres around an ‘80s-inspired electronic beat and sees Gaga pair her signature, powerful vocal style with the Florida artist’s unapologetic rap melodies. “I’m feeling free, I feel exceptionally me/ Hate all you want, but I’m dangerous/ You gon’ burn your tongue on this tea,” Gaga sings in the opening verse, before the two of them come together on the confident, feel-good chorus.
“Monday through Sunday/ I can turn a dance floor into a runway/Turn it up, turn around/ Bitch, Monday through Sunday,” they sing.
The song was written by Gaga alongside Bruno Mars, Jaylah Hickmon, Andrew Watt, Henry Walter, Dernst “D’Mile” Emile II and Jayda Love. Check it out below.
The two artists have shared praise for each other in the past. Last year, Doechii presented Gaga with the Innovator Award at the iHeartRadio Music Awards and celebrated her for the impact she’s had on young queer fans around the world.
Since then, Gaga has pointed out Doechii’s artistry and talent, sharing (via Standard): “You don’t often see someone come out of the gate with a pen that feels immediately legendary. That’s Doechii to me.”
The Devil Wears Prada 2 comes 20 years after the first film was released, and sees Streep, Hathaway, Blunt and Stanley Tucci all return to their original roles.
Directed by David Frankel and written by Aline Brosh McKenna, the movie is set to arrive in cinemas on May 1 and will focus on Miranda Priestly (Streep) navigating the changing climate of print journalism.
Lady Gaga is also reportedly part of the cast, although it is not yet clear which role she will be taking on.
As well as a rich music career, the ‘Mayhem’ has also established herself as an actor too, having had television roles in American Horror Story: Hotel and in the most recent season of Wednesday, as well as a number of high profile films.
In 2018 she played the lead in A Star Is Born, a remake of the 1937 romantic drama co-starring Bradley Cooper – and also won an Oscar for Best Original Song for ‘Shallow’ along the way– and in 2024 she played Harleen “Lee” Quinzel, a version of the character Harley Quinn, in Joker: Folie à Deux.
As for Doechii, the rapper wrapped up 2025 by dropping a new single with SZA called ‘Girl, Get Up’. That track followed on from their 2022 collaboration, ‘Persuasive’.
