Olivia Rodrigo, Will Ferrell, Noah Kahan and Paul McCartney to close out SNL’s 51st season

Saturday Night Live has announced the musical guests for the final three episodes of season 51.

Revealing the news on X (formerly Twitter), the long-running sketch comedy series revealed that Olivia Rodrigo will be the musical guest for the May 2 episode, while also serving as host. Noah Kahan will be performing the following week with Matt Damon hosting, and the season finale on May 16 will feature The Beatles legend Paul McCartney, with Hollywood star Will Ferrell hosting.

All three singers will be appearing to promote their forthcoming releases – Rodrigo’s third album, ‘you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love’, arrives on June 12; Kahan’s ‘The Great Divide’ drops April 24; and McCartney’s 19th solo studio record, ‘The Boys Of Dungeon Lane’, is available from May 29.

It will be Rodrigo’s first time hosting and third time as a musical guest, last appearing on the show in 2023. Kahan will be performing for the second time, while it will be McCartney’s fifth time as a musical guest, having first appeared in 1980.

Comedy actor Jack Black recently hosted Saturday Night Live for the fifth time, joining a rare group of celebrities who have hosted for five or more episodes. His musical guest was Jack White, with the pair collaborating on a comedy version of The White Stripes’ ‘Seven Nation Army’.

Elsewhere, SNL UK launched in March and had Kasabian as the musical guest for its April 4 episode. After performing tracks ‘Release The Pressure’ and ‘The Great Pretender’, frontman Serge Pizzorno spoke to NME about performing on the show.

“What’s really beautiful is having music on the telly again. I might sound like a fossil here but I think that’s great,” he said. “Seeing a band have two songs and then having all the clips on socials is brilliant and we’ve been missing that opportunity for a while.”
