Zach Bryan and Kacey Musgraves mocked Kid Rock‘s ‘All-American Halftime Show’ last night (Sunday February 8), and some others accused the singer and rapper of miming during parts.
Bad Bunny delivered a triumphant celebration of Latin music styles at the NFL Super Bowl LX official halftime show last night, bringing out Pedro Pascal, Cardi B, Jessica Alba, Karol G, Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin as special guests.
However, while it was taking place, Turning Point USA – the non-profit founded by the late Charlie Kirk – held an alternative performance that they dubbed the ‘All-American Halftime Show’. It featured Kid Rock and country artists Lee Brice, Brantley Gilbert and Gabby Barrett as performers.
While famous faces including Rosalía, Doechii, Ricky Martin, and Jennifer Lopez came forward to share their thoughts on Bad Bunny’s show, others took to social media to weigh in on Kid Rock’s set. Zach Bryan and Kacey Musgraves were among those to make a swipe at the ‘All-American Halftime Show’.
Bryan shared a meme of someone watching the Turning Point performance on their phone, while holding their hand up to block themselves from seeing any of the Bad Bunny performance that played on the television behind them. He captioned the post by making a quip at Kid Rock, writing: “What Kid Rock actually thinks is happening across America,” Bryan captioned the video.

For Musgraves, she told followers on X/Twitter that she had watched the Bad Bunny performance over the Turning Point alternative, and said that it “made me feel more proudly American than anything Kid Rock has ever done.”
Country singer Rissi Palmer also took to Instagram to share a similar message, quoting Bad Bunny as saying that he was “here at the Super Bowl because I never, never stopped believing in myself”.
“I can’t think of anything more American than coming from being a bagger at a grocery store to performing at the Super Bowl halftime show. You don’t have to be Puerto Rican to Latinx to appreciate that,” she wrote.
“It was beautiful. It was emotional. It was intentional. It was inclusive. It was what was needed for this moment. I don’t speak Spanish but I understood the message VERY clearly.
“Kendrick told us we were beautiful last year. Bad Bunny did that for his community tonight. If you can’t appreciate that, you are a straight up hater.”
Well. That made me feel more proudly American than anything Kid Rock has ever done.

While many viewers of the Turning Point show filled the comment sections with emojis of the American flag and references to Kirk, others were left debating if Kid Rock was actually singing live in certain sections of the show.
The segment in question was the rendition of ‘Bawitdaba’, in which his mouth movements were out of sync with what was being heard on the broadcast. “No way man, Kid Rock is so good at singing he doesn’t even need to use the mic or speak into it for his lyrics,” one viewer joked on X, while others shared the same clip.
He later performed a cover of Cody Johnson’s ‘Til You Can’t’, although this did seem to be performed live on the show.

Ahead of the gig, Kid Rock defended his decision to take part in the Turning Point event, and said that he did it for the parts of the country who felt “underserved entertainment-wise” by this year’s Super Bowl Halftime show.
“I think I speak for Turning Point and all the artists involved, that none of us are approaching this with any hate in our hearts at all. It’s just a love for our base and love for music, our country,” he said during an interview on Fox and Friends.
“There’s a big portion of this country, like it or not, that’s underserved entertainment-wise,” he added. “We’re just [going to] go play for our base. You know, people who love America, love football, love Jesus… It’s pretty much that simple. And, of course, the media and the haters are going to try to detract from it.”
He also said that if the NFL “really wanted to take care of their fanbase”, it would have chosen two things “that are right from their cities” and “really celebrate the culture of any city they are in.”
This year’s Super Bowl has been at the centre of controversy ever since Bad Bunny was announced as the halftime show headliner in September. The Puerto Rican superstar has come under personal attack from the MAGA movement, with Donald Trump calling the decision “crazy” and claiming that he had “never heard of” the rapper.
After the performance last night, Trump weighed in again and branded it as a “slap in the face” for America.
