YoungBoy Never Broke Again has been issued a pardon by President Donald Trump.
The decision was made yesterday (May 28), months after the artist pleaded guilty to federal weapons charges.
CNN’s Jasmine Wright took to X/Twitter to share the update last night. “President Trump has also issued a full pardon to rapper NBA YoungBoy, one of the most streamed rappers, who was convicted of possessing weapons as a felon,” the post read. “He was released from prison earlier this year.”

It comes as the 25-year-old rapper – real name Kentrell Gaulden – was given a sentence of 23 months in federal prison, then 60 months of probation for possessing a firearm as a convicted felon. He received an early release in April due to time already served.
In a new post online, he confirmed the news and personally thanked Trump for making the decision – something he said will allow him to grow.
“I want to thank President Trump for granting me a pardon and giving me the opportunity to keep building – as a man, as a father, and as an artist,” he said. “This moment means a lot. It opens the door to a future I’ve worked hard for and I am fully prepared to step into this.”
YoungBoy added: “I’m grateful. I’m focused. I’m ready.”
The 23-month prison sentence stemmed from a music video the rapper filmed in Louisiana in 2020 and from when a weapon was found in his home in Utah last year. As highlighted by Complex, he was transferred from a federal prison in Alabama to a re-entry facility near Phoenix in March.
The pardon comes before the rapper will kick off his 2025 ‘Masa Tour’, which will see him perform across the US and hit 27 cities. The dates begin in Dallas, Texas on September 2.
Others who have had prison sentences adjusted by Donald Trump yesterday included Death Row Records co-founder Michael Harris, and Gangster Disciples founder Larry Hoover. Also pardoned were reality TV stars Todd and Julie Chrisley (via Consequence).
