Yes are hitting the road this fall for a tour where they will perform the entirety of Fragile, the prog-rock band’s 1971 classic that was reissued as a Super Deluxe Edition box set last year. The run is part of the band’s ongoing Album Series.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees will kick off the trek on Oct. 1 in Wallingford, Connecticut, at Toyota Oakdale Theatre. The run includes stops in Washington, D.C., Fort Lauderdale, Atlanta, Memphis, Milwaukee, Denver, and many other cities. Tickets go on sale June 13 — further details are available on their official website.
Their fourth album, Fragile, went multiplatinum and featured signature tracks such as “Roundabout,” “Long Distance Runaround,” and “Heart of the Sunrise.” In addition to traversing all of Fragile, Yes will play additional classic cuts while on the road.
In an interview with Rolling Stone Music Now, guitarist Steve Howe said “Roundabout” started with a few simple chords. “I must have played that to [former lead singer] Jon, [Anderson],” Howe said, “and he thought it was nice.” He added: “The backward piano, I believe, was my idea. It really gave it a kind of moment. That was a beautiful E minor… flipped on the tape and then lined up so that it would climax backwards with the attack of the chord.”

Discussing the album in a press release, Howe said, “It’s fairly ‘odd-ball,’ but we were at the height of our creativity, determined for success.” He added: “It gave us confidence, further than our own in-stock belief, we’d crafted this unusual but noticeable musical twist to rock and what later became prog.”
