The band, which consists of Rhian Teasdale, Hester Chambers, Henry Holmes, Josh Mobaraki and Ellis Durand, released their second album ‘Moisturizer’ on July 11.
Wet Leg’s new album has topped the Official Vinyl Albums Chart and the Official Record Store Chart, which has named it the biggest seller of the previous seven days in UK independent record shops.
‘Moisturizer’ claimed the top spot and beat Oasis’ ‘Time Flies… 1994-2009’ (3), ‘(What’s The Story) Morning Glory?’ (4) and ‘Definitely Maybe’ (5).
In reaction to the news, Wet Leg posted a photo on their social media channels where Teasdale can be seen holding a vinyl copy of the album while wearing an Oasis-labelled T-shirt. However, instead of the Gallagher brothers, this t-shirt Jim Carrey and Robin Williams’ faces printed on it. On their Instagram story, they wrote, “Yay, eat shit Oasis hehe.”

NME awarded ‘Moisterizer’ four stars in a review, commending it for its strength and style. The review concluded: “After the whirlwind that was Wet Leg’s debut album, it would have been easy for the band to capitulate under the pressure or just play it safe and remake that record.
“But on their second effort, they’ve evolved into a smarter, sexier and altogether stronger creature. Would we still love Wet Leg if they turned into a worm? With this album under their belts, the answer is undoubtedly yes.”
