Watch Zayn Malik sing One Direction’s ‘Night Changes’ for the first time in 10 years

Zayn Malik has performed One Direction‘s hit song ‘Night Changes’ for the first time in 10 years. Check out the footage below.

The moment took place during the singer’s show in Mexico City last night (March 25), where he took to the stage at the Palacio De Los Deportes for his first-ever arena show as a solo artist.

It came as part of his highly anticipated ‘Stairway To The Sky’ tour, and saw him open the show by performing the One Direction song for the first time in a decade.

Kicking off the 18-song setlist with the song, the crowd can be heard singing along to the lyrics, while Malik looks out into the audience appearing starstruck by the response.

The rendition came nearly a decade to the day of the singer announcing his departure from the boy band, and marked the first time he has sung any One Direction song in the time since. According to a fan who took to X/Twitter with footage of the show, the singer would later tell the crowd: “I haven’t sung this song in 10 years. Thank you, that was amazing, I almost cried…”

The remainder of the show saw Malik break out solo tracks including ‘Pillowtalk’, ‘Lied To’ and ‘Shoot At Will’, as well as a cover of the Paolo Nutini track ‘Last Request’. Find footage and the full setlist below.

Zayn Malik’s Mexico City setlist was:

‘Night Changes’ (One Direction song) (First time singing a One Direction song since he left the band [March 2015])
‘My Woman’
‘Birds on a Cloud’
‘Dreamin’
‘Lied To’
‘In the Bag’
‘Ignorance Ain’t Bliss’
‘Scripted’
‘Sweat’
‘BoRdErZ’
‘iT’s YoU’
‘Shoot at Will’
‘Last Request’ (Paolo Nutini cover)
‘PILLOWTALK’
‘Concrete Kisses’
‘What I Am’
‘Alienated’
‘Gates of Hell’

The show in Mexico City came after the singer announced to fans at the end of 2024 that his Newcastle gig had been cancelled, minutes before showtime.

“The show will no longer go ahead tonight,” the announcement stated. “We apologise for the late notice, it was his hope that he would be able to continue with the show. But this is no longer possible.”

Malik later posted on Instagram Stories: “I’m so sorry to do this but my voice just isn’t there at all tonight and without it there’s no show. I’m truly sorry to let you down, especially at such short notice…. I held onto hope until the very last moment.”

The singer previously postponed the US leg of his tour following the death of One Direction bandmate Liam Payne. He then confirmed later that the shows would be rescheduled for January 2025.

He had previously kicked off his UK tour in Leeds on November 23, and at the end of the show projected a tribute to Payne on the screen behind him showing the year of his birth and death alongside the message: ‘Love you bro’.Payne passed away on October 16 after falling from the third floor of a hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
