Watch Wet Leg Showcase Rousing Single ‘Catch These Fists’ on ‘Fallon’

The track is the first listen from the Isle of Wight duo’s forthcoming sophomore album

Wet Leg stopped by The Tonight Show to perform their new single, “Catch These Fists.” The duo appeared alongside their live band with singer Rhian Teasdale evoking the tone of the song in a boxing-inspired ensemble and silver gloves.

“Catch These Fists” will appear on Wet Leg’s second studio LP, Moisturizer, out July 11. The group, Teasdale and Hester Chambers, shared the single earlier this week alongside a chaotic video marked by an impromptu kidnapping. “We were just kind of having fun and exploring,” Chambers shared of the track in a statement.

Wet Leg recorded Moisturizer with producer Dan Carey with the aim of making it fun to perform live. Teasdale noted that the lyrical content was inspired by her current relationship. “I thought I was straight all of my life until I met my current partner — these love songs are about them,” Teasdale said. “I just found it so much more interesting and empowering to be writing love songs where I’m not lusting over a man — it feels a little bit different.”

The Isle of Wight group released their self-titled debut in 2022. The LP was shortlisted for the 2022 Mercury Prize, and won the Grammys for Best Alternative Music Album and Best Alternative Music Performance. The duo were also nominated for the Grammy for Best New Artist.

In 2022, Wet Leg told Rolling Stone they weren’t rushing into album number two. “Hopefully we have a bit of time next year to brainstorm. If we write an album in a week that we love, that’s sick, but if it’s actually gonna take a year.… we’ll have to wait and see,” Chambers said. “An album is like a snapshot, and you can set your intention. If you just want it to be, ‘This is what’s bringing us joy at the moment,’ that’s valid — or if you want to make sure it’s something, in your mind, that’s perfect, it takes a lot longer.”
