The musician, who is set to join Outlaw Fest later this year, shared the single in the fall
Waxahatchee appeared on The Tonight Show to showcase her recent single “Much Ado About Nothing.” The musician, real name Katie Crutchfield, took the late-night show stage alongside her band, offering a moody take on the poignant track.
“Much Ado About Nothing” was initially released in October and marked Waxahatchee’s follow-up to her 2024 LP, Tigers Blood, which dropped in March. The track arrived alongside a video directed by Anna St. Louis featuring a behind-the-scenes look at the artist on the road, from lighthearted moments before taking the stage to Crutchfield strumming her guitar on an empty sports field.
Earlier this month, Waxahatchee shared “Dirt,” her first single of 2025. The song was released to celebrate the musician joining the forthcoming touring Outlaw Fest, which will also feature Willie Nelson, Sheryl Crow, and Bob Dylan. Waxahatchee will join the stacked lineup led by Dylan and Nelson in September, including stops in Maine, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and Wisconsin.
Tigers Blood was nominated for Best Americana Album at the 2025 Grammys. In a Rolling Stone review of the LP, writer Rob Sheffield called the singer-songwriter a “master storyteller” who is “fully aware she’s on a hot streak.” He continued, “She sings about adult romance, struggling for sobriety, the day-to-day work of holding it together—in the poetic voice of a Lucinda Williams who came of age playing DIY punk-house basement shows.”
