Yo La Tengo were playing the fourth of a 10-night residence at the city’s Bowery Ballroom as part of their annual Hannukah celebrations on Saturday night (December 28) when three original members of The Soft Boys joined forces on stage to play a set of songs from across their career.

Frontman Robyn Hitchcock was joined by guitarist Kimberley Rew and drummer Morris Windsor and together they played a 13-song set, including classics such as ‘Underwater Moonlight’ and ‘Kingdom Of Love’.

After Yo La Tengo’s headline set, the two bands teamed up for an encore, which included The Soft Boys’ ‘Queen Of Eyes’ and ‘I Wanna Destroy You’, as well as The Velvet Underground’s ‘Run Run Run’ and The Beatles’ ‘It’s All Too Much’.

Check out the footage below.
