Watch The Smashing Pumpkins bring out Olivia Rodrigo and Yungblud for Lollapalooza 2026 headline set

The Smashing Pumpkins brought out Olivia Rodrigo, Yungblud and Melissa Auf der Maur during their headline set at Lollapalooza 2026 – see footage and setlist below.

The Chicago alt-rock veterans topped the bill on the festival’s Bud Light Stage last night (July 31), marking their first performance at Lollapalooza since they headlined its travelling 1994 edition.

Billy Corgan and co. delivered a 17-song hometown set that saw them joined by Yungblud for ‘Luna’ from their 1993 album ‘Siamese Dream’, with the Doncaster singer, who had performed his own set earlier in the day, telling the crowd: “This is a fucking dream come true!”

Later, Corgan told the crowd: “And now I’d like to bring out a very, very special guest: Miss Olivia Rodrigo!” The singer then emerged to sing ‘Thirty-Three’ from 1995’s ‘Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness’, with Corgan on acoustic guitar.

The final guest was Auf der Maur, the band’s former touring bassist, who returned to play on the set closer ‘The Everlasting Gaze’ from 2000’s ‘Machina/The Machines Of God’. She had played the same song with them two nights earlier at an intimate pre-Lollapalooza show.

Yungblud’s appearance followed him teaming up with the Pumpkins for a version of his song ‘Zombie’ earlier this year. At the time, Yungblud said ‘Siamese Dream’ had been a huge influence on him, while Corgan praised him by saying “his star shines bright”.

Rodrigo, meanwhile, headlined Lollapalooza in Chicago last year, when she surprised the crowd by bringing out Weezer for ‘Buddy Holly’ and ‘Say It Ain’t So’.

Auf der Maur toured with The Smashing Pumpkins in 1999 and 2000 following the departure of D’arcy Wretzky. She first reunited with the group after 24 years in 2024, while she recently announced her first new music in 16 years.

Later this year, Corgan will bring his operatic reimagining of ‘Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness’ to the UK and Europe, performing alongside a 60-piece orchestra, and he is also reportedly keen on bringing the show to the Las Vegas Sphere at some point.

The Pumpkins have also reunited with ‘Gish’ producer Butch Vig for a new song that Corgan recently said was “98 per cent done”.
