Watch The Offspring reunite with ‘Pretty Fly (For A White Guy)’ video star at LA gig

The Offspring have reunited with the star of the ‘Pretty Fly (For A White Guy)’ video on stage in Los Angeles.

On Friday (August 29), the band played at the Kia Forum in Inglewood and towards the end of the show, they brought out Guy Cohen, the original dancer from the song’s 1998 video.

“There’s only one thing that can make this better right now,” frontman Dexter Holland told the crowd. “We need some dancing, some real pretty fly dancing. Do you know anyone who dances well? I’ve got someone in mind.”

“Please come up, pretty fly guy,” he added, before Cohen greeted the crowd and launched straight into his signature leg-hook dance as the band began playing.

The ‘Pretty Fly’ video was directed by McG, who went on to have a major Hollywood career, directing films including Charlie’s Angels, Terminator Salvation and This Means War. The band reportedly originally wanted cult actor and comedian Seth Green to play the video’s cringeworthy “white guy” character, but eventually settled on Cohen, who also went on to cameo in the ‘Why Don’t You Get A Job?’ video.

Cohen has been known to join The Offspring on stage before, notably at the ill-fated Woodstock ‘99 festival, which you can watch here:

The Offspring are coming to the end of their ‘Supercharged Worldwide In ‘25’ North American tour, with final dates to come in Washington, Utah and Colorado in the coming days.

The tour is in support of The Offspring’s 11th and most recent studio album, ‘Supercharged’. The band spoke to NME last year about the LP and said they “wanted to make a record that was quintessentially Offspring” with the record, “and I think we fucking nailed it.”

Holland and guitarist Noodles also told NME about channelling their early work on the album, recalled jamming with Ed Sheeran and Brian May, and they discussed having Yungblud as their “hype-man”.

As for whether they could call it quits soon, Noodles explained: “We’re just getting warmed up! I want to keep it going and I’m still looking for ways to make it bigger than it ever has been before.

“There are still parts of the world that we’ve never been to; we’ve never played Hong Kong and we’re going to Dubai for the first time soon. These are all things we’re looking forward to.”
