Watch The Libertines’ Pete Doherty break out karaoke cover of Lily Allen’s ‘Smile’ in South Korea

Pete Doherty has been spotted performing Lily Allen’s classic track ‘Smile’ at a karaoke night in South Korea. Check it out below.

The footage was shared by his Libertines bandmate Carl Barât on Instagram last night (Sunday October 4), and came as the band recently landed in the country ahead of their huge slot at Busan International Rock Festival.

In the clip, it isn’t clear whether the band are backstage at the festival or at an intimate cafe. Frontman Doherty is seen walking back and forth across the room in a grey suit, putting an indie spin on Allen’s hit 2006 song.

He was joined by Libertines drummer Gary Powell for the karaoke rendition, with Powell sitting behind the kit laughing, as a handful of people sitting around them clapped and raised their hands above their heads.

“South Korea going well, is that @lilyallen? ❤️” Barât wrote in the caption, and Lily Allen also took to the comment section, sharing an emoji with heart-eyes. Watch here:

The Libertines played their set at Busan International Rock Festival last night (Sunday October 4), and the slot came just days after Carl Barât joined The Molotovs on stage in London to perform The Libertines‘ ‘What A Waster’.

Before then, Doherty spoke to NME alongside Josh Pugh about their new project The Pete Doherty Show, which features guests Sleaford Mods‘ Jason Williamson, EastEnders icon Natalie Cassidy, Richard Bacon, comedians Ivo Graham and Jamali Maddix, and many more.

Speaking about some of the interviews he had done on the show so far, Doherty told us: “Jason Williamson was brilliant, and there have been things I’ve wanted to ask him for a long time. I thought Natalie Cassidy from EastEnders was great because she was such a massive celebrity. I had it in my head she was going to be a really down-to-earth London girl, and she was.”
