Watch Suki Waterhouse bring out Jane Penny to cover TOPS in Montreal

Suki Waterhouse brought out TOPS’ Jane Penny at a recent gig in Montreal. Check out footage below.

The moment occurred during Waterhouse’s show in the city’s MTELUS Performing Arts Centre on December 14.

Ahead of welcoming the TOPS vocalist to the stage, Waterhouse referred to the Canadian indie-rock band as “the coolest band in Montreal” and their 2015 single ‘Anything’, as “one of my favourite songs”.

She went on to say: “Honestly I have such a crush on this whole band,” before officially introducing Penny to perform the track alongside her. The following night, during her gig in Toronto, Waterhouse also performed the song once again, this time alone.

Sharing a clip of the performance to Instagram, Penny thanked Waterhouse and called her “an absolute gem of a human being and total rock star”. Check it out below.

Meanwhile, Waterhouse came in at Number 7 in TikTok’s top 10 UK artists of the year in 2024.

She released her second album ‘Memoir Of A Sparklemuffin’ this year. Speaking to NME in September, the singer shared how writing the record during her pregnancy shaped its production. “The beautiful thing about making this record was that I had this very physical deadline – not just one where it’s like, ‘You should turn it in then’, but a very physical one,” she told us.

“That was something that I really leaned into with this project, and not being able to leave my living room for a couple of months was probably the best thing for it.”

In the summer, she played a support slot at Taylor Swift‘s ‘Eras Tour’ run in Wembley Stadium. Following the show, she joked that her “nervous system will never be the same”, adding: “The last time I was at Wembley I was dancing my ass off at the Reputation tour! Never did I think the next time I’d be here would be opening for my favourite artist with my friends and family in the crowd.”

Elsewhere, she covered Oasis‘s ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger’ during her set at All Points East in August.
