Watch Sting Perform ‘I Wrote Your Name (Upon My Heart)’ on ‘Colbert’

The musician is currently on his Sting 3.0 tour alongside drummer Chris Maas and guitarist Dominic Miller

Sting stopped by The Late Show to showcase his recent single, “I Wrote Your Name (Upon My Heart).” Joined by his current live band, the musician performed the rousing rock number on electric guitar and vocals.

Sting, alongside drummer Chris Maas and guitarist Dominic Miller, is currently on a headlining tour in North America. The trek, part of the musician’s Sting 3.0 tour, kicked off at the Fillmore in Detroit, Michigan on Sept. 17 and features a string of shows in cities such as Toronto, Philadelphia, Boston, Brooklyn, Chicago, and San Francisco. The tour is set to wrap in Los Angeles on Nov. 13. at the Wiltern.

The trio released “I Wrote Your Name (Upon My Heart)” to coincide with the tour as the debut Sting 3.0 recording. It marked the musician’s first new music since 2021.

Earlier this year, Sting teamed up with Billy Joel for their One Night Only slate of co-headlining shows, with with both artists popping up during the other’s set to help sing one of their classic songs. Sting’s set then opened with a rendition of the Police’s “Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic” with Joel sticking around to help sing it. Sting also showed up at one of Joel’s final MSG concerts to duet on “Big Man on Mulberry Street,” as well as “Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic.”

Beyond his current tour, Sting will perform at Ohana Festival at Doheny State Beach later this month. Hosted by Eddie Vedder, the three-day festival is scheduled for Sept. 27 through Sept. 29 with Pearl Jam headlining both Friday and Sunday in celebration of their new Dark Matter LP. Sting is replacing original headliner, Neil Young & Crazy Horse, on the Saturday night after they bowed out with illness.
