Watch Snail Mail debut new songs ‘My Maker’ and ‘Ricochet’ at tour closer in Seattle

Snail Mail wrapped up their latest North American tour by debuting two new songs in Seattle – watch footage below.

The group, led by Lindsey Jordan, had been on the road with Dinosaur Jr. since last month, although the latter had been forced to withdraw from the final three shows due to a health issue with frontman J. Mascis.

The final show of the run took place on Friday night (August 8) in Seattle’s Neumos, and Snail Mail took the opportunity to give two new tracks their first public airing. ‘My Maker’ is a dreamy, acoustic-strummed track, while ‘Ricochet’ is more introverted and solitary.

Check them both out in fan-captured footage here:

These follow on from two other new songs that popped up for the first time at a show in Massachusetts last month: ‘Nowhere’ is a contemplative, slacker rock number, while ‘Dead End’ is a sweet, melodic jangle pop tune. Watch footage of those here:

Snail Mail’s most recent album, 2021’s ‘Valentine’ scored a glowing five-star review, with NME‘s El Hunt writing: “Expertly curated, every single song in ‘Valentine’s relatively restrained 10-song tracklist feels like a fully-realised gem. As a songwriter, Jordan continues to cut straight through to the messy, conflicted, hopelessly infatuated guts of life. It’s a rare skill to pull it off so flawlessly in a signature track or two – let alone across the space of two concise records.”

Speaking to NME following the blockbuster announcement of Oasis’ return for their current tour, Snail Mail told us about their impact on her career: “It would be easier to answer how they haven’t influenced me! Their songwriting, melodic genius, and style have been important to me for longer than I can remember. I always catch myself referencing them when I’m trying to write.”
