Watch PinkPantheress cover Charli XCX’s ‘Apple’ on Radio 1 Live Lounge

PinkPantheress has performed a cover of Charli XCX’s ‘Apple’ for the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge – check out footage below.

This week, the artist will release the star-studded ‘Fancy Some More?’ remix album on Friday (October 10), an accompaniment to her latest studio record, the Mercury-nominated ‘Fancy That’, which was released in May.

Ahead of that release, she has appeared on the Radio 1 Live Lounge, and she took the opportunity to play a version of the ‘Brat’ hit from 2024, complete with added ‘90s dance energy.

The performance, which you can watch below, even featured the singer having a go at the viral ‘Apple Dance’ routine, which became a signature part of Charli’s ‘Brat’ live shows and saw figures such as Chappell Roan, Gracie Abrams, Rosé, George Daniel and Amelia Dimoldenberg take on the dance.

The ‘Fancy Some More?’ remix album will feature a huge list of guest stars: Anitta, SEVENTEEN, Oklou, JADE, Yves, JT, Kylie Minogue, Sugababes, Bladee, Zara Larsson, Ravyn Lenae, Rachel Chinouriri, Nia Archives, Kaytranada, Basement Jaxx, Joe Goddard, DJ Caio Prince & Adame DJ, Mochakk, Loukeman & Lead, Sega Bodega, Groove Armada and Kilimanjaro.

The remix album comes five months after the release of ‘Fancy That’, which scored a four-star review from NME, with Kyann-Sian Williams writing: “With ‘Fancy That’, PinkPantheress is kicking down the door to her next chapter – one that promises to be more adventurous than ever. She’s no longer content with being the elusive girl behind the screen, proving she can shapeshift, push boundaries and still keep us hooked – all in under 20 minutes.”

PinkPantheress turned heads in September when she performed without autotune for the first time on NPR‘s Tiny Desk. “This is my first performance I’ve done with no tuning,” she told the crowd. “I’ve never sang with no tuning before so this is really scary. I nearly didn’t do this because the NPR people were like, ‘You can’t use anything.’ Then I was like, ‘Let me try to figure it out and see how it goes.’”

Last month, NME attended PinkPantheress’ show at the O2 Academy Brixton and rated the gig four stars: “By the end, when the cast bowed and hugged onstage, the night felt less like a polished pop spectacle and more like a madcap show-and-tell with a superstar host. It may not have reinvented the live experience, but it proved PinkPantheress’ real gift: she knows how to turn a massive venue into something intimate, funny and unhinged.”
