Watch Muse play the classic ‘Unintended’ live for the first time in 12 years at Pinkpop

Muse played a huge set at Pinkpop 2025, and broke out their first live rendition of ‘Unintended’ in 12 years. Check out footage and the setlist below.

The Matt Bellamy-led band took to the stage in the Netherlands for this year’s edition of the festival, performing on the main stage last night (June 22), their set saw them break out huge hits, along with a couple of rarities.

Opening the show, the band kicked things off with their new single ‘Unravelling’, before playing back-to-back renditions of ‘Map of the Problematique’, ‘Interlude’, ‘Hysteria’ and ‘Won’t Stand Down’. From there, they went into ‘Thought Contagion’, ‘Psycho’ and a Felsmann + Tiley reinterpretation of ‘Kill Or Be Killed’.

Later, ‘Madness’ and ‘Undisclosed Desires’ were performed for the first time on this tour, and Matt Bellamy broke out one of his solo tracks, ‘Hanging In Victory Square’.

One of the biggest surprises of the set, however, came 12 songs into the 22-track setlist, when the band played ‘Unintended’ for the first time since 2013. That song was the fifth and final single from their 1999 debut album ‘Showbiz’, and has only been played on rare occasions since 2007.

The version that was played at Pinkpop was the cover that Matt Bellamy did for his solo release, ‘Cryosleep’. That was shared back in 2021 as part of Record Store Day, and the cover of the song sees him make it much more stripped back.

Later in the setlist, the band played huge hits like ‘Supermassive Black Hole’, ‘Uprising’ and ‘Knights Of Cydonia’, before ending with ‘Prelude’ and ‘Starlight’.

The opening track at Pinkpop, ‘Unravelling’, was officially shared on Friday (June 20), and had already been debuted as the trio kicked off their tour dates in Helsinki, Finland the week before. That performance came after a series of teaser posts online, with Matt Bellamy and co. telling fans they were “back at it”.

The song is the first preview of Muse’s forthcoming 10th album. Details around the record remain scarce, although it will mark the follow-up to their ninth and latest full-length record, ‘Will Of The People’, which arrived in 2022.

Later this summer, Muse are set to continue making appearances at numerous other European events including huge slots at Open’er, Mad Cool and NOS Alive. For Mad Cool and NOS, the gigs were only recently announced as they were called in to replace Kings Of Leon – with that band being forced to pull out due to injury. Towards the start of the year, the band’s bassist Chris Wolstenholme talked about the future of Muse and the hopes for a new album.

“I think we’re gonna start work on the next record fairly soon,” he said, explaining that the group weren’t signed to a label at the time. “I think for the last few albums we’ve been with Warner and we’ve extended after each album,” the musician continued. “We may do the same again; we may go with a new label, who knows.”
