Watch Muse debut heavy new single ‘Unravelling’ as they kick off European tour in Helsinki

Muse debuted their new song ‘Unravelling’ at the first show of their European tour in Helsinki tonight – check out footage below.

The band’s first show of 2025 went down at Kulttuuritalo in the Finnish capital on Thursday night (June 12), and they opened the show with the first ever public performance of ‘Unravelling’.

The band have been teasing the track in recent weeks, including a cryptic clip on Wednesday (June 11) that appeared to come from an upcoming music video. They tagged it with the caption “Back at it”, with many fans expecting the video to drop imminently.

As the video footage below reveals, ‘Unravelling’ starts with some of the synth-led touches from ‘The 2nd Law’ and ‘Simulation Theory’ before imploding into the space rock riffery found on ‘Origin Of Symmetry’, ‘Absolution’ and ‘Drones’. Watch here:

For the rest of the set, Matt Bellamy and co played tracks from across their career, from ‘Compliance’ and ‘Won’t Stand Down’ from 2022’s ‘Will Of The People’ all the way back to ‘Plug In Baby’ from 2001’s ‘Origin Of Symmetry’. See other footage from the show here:

Back in February, bassist Wolstenholme opened up about the future of Muse, and suggested that the band were thinking about a new full-length album – which could be arriving next year.

“I think we’re gonna start work on the next record fairly soon,” he said, explaining that the group weren’t signed to a label at the time.

“I think for the last few albums we’ve been with Warner and we’ve extended after each album,” the musician continued. “We may do the same again; we may go with a new label, who knows.”

As for when fans could expect the next Muse LP, Wolstenholme revealed that they would be starting work “very, very soon, like in the next couple of months”. “I would imagine that 2026 will be a new album, barring any disasters,” he commented.
