Watch Marina Serve ‘Cuntissimo’ in Her Glamorous New Video

Marina is a glamorous, frolicking woman inspired by the confident women who “enjoy life to the max” on her new single “Cuntissimo.” On Friday, the musician celebrated her main stage Coachella set and the Thursday announcement of her album, Princess of Power, with the video for her new song.

The stunning, Olivia de Camps-directed video for “Cuntissimo” reflects the pleasure she sings about, as Marina and a group of women let loose at a pillow party inside a picturesque home. As she puts it, it’s all about “the art of feminine power and pleasure.”

The video captures Marina with an ear-to-ear smile on her face, dancing through a mansion in multiple corseted gowns surrounded by gorgeous women of all ages, enjoying their lives without judgment. “They say that I should settle down, but I don’t wanna,” she sings before the beat drops and name-drops Cuntissimo queens Salma Hayek and Thelma & Louise. “It’s my favorite video I’ve done in ages,” Marina tells Rolling Stone.

Ahead of the video’s release, fans freaked out after an image circulated showing her with a symbol on her cheek. The character from her 2012 album Electra Heart was known, as she sang back then, for wearing her “heart on your cheek/But never on your sleeve.” Was she bringing back that heroine? Marina blushes, and responds coyly with a smirk, “Well… It’s not a heart. But it’s an evolution of that.” In the video, Marina frolics with a star on her cheek in some scenes. “It’s just a cute little nod,” she says.

Marina announced her sixth album, Princess of Power, on Thursday and released “Cuntissimo,” telling Rolling Stone that she was inspired by the likes of Elizabeth Taylor, Sophia Loren, Madonna, and Rihanna to make the song.

“That’s really key: pleasure,” Marina said. “Throughout the centuries, it’s been denied us that freedom to be silly and messy. Women have been under such a strict patriarchal power for so long, but this is just like, ‘Fuck you.’”

Marina will give “Cuntissimo” its live debut on Friday night during her 5:40 p.m. main stage set at Coachella. She’ll perform her three Princess of Power singles and play some fan-favorite deep cuts — “Are You Satisfied” and “Oh No!” among them.
