Watch Jordan Fish join House Of Protection on stage in Camden

Jordan Fish made a surprise appearance on stage with House Of Protection last night (October 15). Check out footage of the moment below.

Founded earlier this year, the group is comprised of former Fever 333 members Aric Improta and Stephen “Stevis” Harrison.

They came together as a duo after announcing their departure from Fever 333 back in October 2022, citing inner band tension and “creative differences”. They dropped their first single in April, ‘It’s Supposed To Hurt’, and their debut EP ‘Galore’ last month.

Both releases saw them team up with ex-Bring Me The Horizon member and producer Jordan Fish and now, at their live show in Camden, House Of Protection surprised fans by bringing him out.

The gig took place at Camden’s Underworld venue last night, in what was their first show together in the UK.

Starting off with ‘Pulling Teeth’, the seven-song setlist was followed by ‘Learn To Forget’ – which saw Fish join them for the second verse. From there, they launched into ‘Being One’, ‘Fuse’, ‘Better Off’ and the first live performance of ‘Fire’.

They closed the set with the breakthrough single ‘It’s Supposed To Hurt’. Check out footage of the gig below.

Earlier this year, Improta (also of Night Verses) and Harrison (formerly of The Chariot) spoke to NME about the decision to form House Of Protection, as well as the inspiration behind the first single.

“‘It’s Supposed To Hurt’ was the first song we wrote together,” Harrison told NME. “It just feels really magic. We’ve put a lot of work in between then and now.”

“Lyrically, the song is just about the process of starting House Of Protection. ‘It’s Supposed To Hurt’ refers to starting anything new and worthwhile – there’s always going to be a painful and uncomfortable element to it,” he added. “Building House from nothing had a lot of uncomfortable moments. There were some big learning curves to work through.”

Improta continued: “We were on one of our last shows [with Fever 333] together, and Steve said that he’d always wanted a song called ‘It’s Supposed To Hurt’. Within the first minute of improvising, it instantly came out in what I was singing. It felt like the right ethos given that in these situations, you don’t want to shy away from something if you want it bad enough to see how you can progress as an individual and as a team.”

In the interview, Fish revealed how working with the duo was the first production project he took on after leaving BMTH. “I just did it on a whim. We started working on ‘It’s Supposed To Hurt’ together in the summer of last year.

“It was just timing really because things were wrapping up with Bring Me and they just said, ‘Shall we get together next week and make a record?’ I was like, ‘Yeah, fuck it, why not?’”

Last month’s debut EP, ‘Galore’, featured two new songs from House Of Protection: ‘Better Off’ and ‘Fuse’.

For the latter, the band described it as a nostalgic callback to the ‘90s rave scene, and featuring punk attitude, rock riffs, and electronic elements reminiscent of The Prodigy.

“‘Fuse’, for me, feels like such a centrepiece to the album. It’s got that raw electronic energy of our early songs in the verses, and then Steve’s vocals and Jordan’s production in the chorus are such a lush contrast,” Improta said at the time. “It’s probably the song I jammed most after we finished it.”
