Watch Jason Isbell Debut Acoustic Number ‘Ride to Robert’s’ on ‘Fallon’

The song will appear on the musician’s forthcoming solo LP, Foxes in the Snow

Jason Isbell appeared on The Tonight Show for a solo performance of his new song “Ride to Robert’s.” The musician showcased the pensive track, which references Nashville venue Robert’s Western World, on an acoustic guitar, offering an intimate rendition that befits his current solo tour.

“Ride to Robert’s” comes off Isbell’s forthcoming LP, Foxes in the Snow, out March 7 via Isbell’s own Southeastern label. Foxes in the Snow was recorded in New York City at Electric Lady Studios in October 2024. It was recorded entirely on the same all-mahogany 1940 Martin 0-17 acoustic guitar in the span of five days. Isbell previously shared the album’s title track, as well as song “Bury Me.”

The new LP is Isbell’s first solo acoustic collection and his first album not to feature any members of his longtime band, the 400 Unit, since his 2007 solo debut, Sirens In the Ditch. Isbell and the 400 Unit released their most recent album together, Weathervanes, back in 2023.

Isbell is currently on the road in support of Foxes in the Snow. His solo track kicked off Feb. 15 and continues through March 29, after which he’ll link back up with the 400 Unit for an extensive tour that starts in April and runs through July. The group will be joined on the road by Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway, Band of Horses, and Garrison Starr on various dates.
