Gracie Abrams brought Robyn onstage at Lollapalooza to perform a duet of ‘Dancing On My Own’. See the footage below.
Abrams closed out her set at the Chicago festival last night (July 31) with a reference to her first performance there three years earlier, where she played Robyn’s 2010 hit.
Returning to the mainstage this year just ahead of Tyler, The Creator‘s headline slot, she brought out the Swedish pop star to commemorate the moment. The pair dueted the iconic chorus, with Abrams also blending in her ‘The Secret of Us‘ track, ‘Close To You’.
Check out clips of their performance below.
It’s not the first surprise performance of the track Robyn has given in the past few years. In February, she also teamed up with David Byrne a rendition at Saturday Night Live’s 50th anniversary concert.
Before that, she popped up at London’s O2 Arena during Charli XCX’s show last November. Alongside Yung Lean, they played their version of ‘360’ from the ‘Brat’ remix album, followed by ‘Dancing On My Own’.
In other news, Robyn recently announced a 20th anniversary vinyl reissue of her breakthrough self-titled album.
Robyn’s most recent studio album was 2018’s ‘Honey’, which NME awarded four stars and noted: “From an artist who conjures up so many lofty titles – pop genius being one of them – this is a record that takes an altogether different tack to cut through to the raw, complex tangle of emotion.”
In March, she made a surprise appearance, joining Jamie xx on stage in Copenhagen for a live version of their track ‘Life’, which was released on his album ‘In Waves’ in 2024.
As for Abrams, she played Glastonbury this year, covering The Cure in her Other Stage set and then delivering the viral Apple Dance during Charli XCX’s headline set on the same stage the following night.
Abrams’ ‘The Secret Of Us’ scored a four-star review from NME upon its release in June: “It’s a moment of pure pop catharsis that leans into the good, bad and messy of infatuation. This is the joy of ‘The Secret of Us’: it doesn’t shy away from the complex or contradictory. Here Gracie Abrams embraces her growing pains and celebrates enduring the difficult moments. She’s never sounded better.”
