Fontaines D.C. debuted two new songs, ‘Marianne’ and ‘Six Shot Morning’, during their first full headline show of 2026. Listen below.
The band played their first show in almost a year last night (August 8), at Baluarte de la Candelaria in Cádiz, Spain. It was also their first headline show since the unexpected passing of their manager Trevor Dietz, and it followed their performance at the final ever BBC live session at Maida Vale earlier this week.
Fontaines have previously confirmed that they have been working on new material, and last night debuted two new songs: ‘Marianne’ and ‘Six Shot Morning’.
‘Marianne’ came early in the set, and sees the band lean into a more industrial sound. “This could be your fatal match,” frontman Grian Chatten sings, with the chorus unfolding: “Marianne, this year you should come and stay here / You can follow my lead / I can help you disappear.”
Meanwhile, ‘Six Shot Morning’, played during the encore, is built around a spacey synth, with Chatten singing: “Six shot morning it’s a beautiful world,” over a pulsing bassline.

The band shared news of Dietz’s passing in June, writing that he “was beside us from the beginning of our journey as a band” and called him “the sixth member of the band”.
The band will continue their return to the stage this month for a run of European dates as part of the follow-up to the ‘Romance’ era, before their massive shows headlining Reading & Leeds 2026.
They’ve also been working on new material, having recently contributed music to the Peaky Blinders: Immortal Man soundtrack and the War Child ‘Help(2)’ album.
In an interview with NME earlier this year, guitarist Carlos O’Connell told us they may play new music during their sets at Reading & Leeds. “I’d say so. If there is stuff written, then I would say so, yeah. That’s what we used to do all the time, play the new stuff live – songs that weren’t even finished. It’s a good way to test the songs,” he said.
