Charli XCX has dropped another trailer for her mockumentary The Moment, which sees her question if the term ‘Brat Summer’ has become “cringe”.
The project is based around her huge ‘Brat’ album and subsequent tour, and is set to arrive in select cinemas from January 26.
Directed by Aidan Zamiri, the first trailer for the A24 film arrived last month, and revealed that the film was made using real footage from the ’Brat’ tour – including chat show appearances and on stage performances – as well as a variety of fictional backstage scenes.
Alongside Charli, the mockumentary stars Alexander Skarsgård, Rachel Sennott, Hailey Benton Gates, Jamie Demetriou, Kate Berlant, and Rosanna Arquette, as well as a cameo from Kylie Jenner.
Today (Thursday December 11), another trailer has been shared by the ‘365’ hitmaker, and it captures some of the more intense moments of the film, including Charli struggling with the pressures that the ‘Brat Summer’ phenomenon led to.
“Hi, it’s Charli XCX, are you having a Brat Summer?” she asks at the beginning of the clip, before casually asking a colleague: “Don’t you think the whole ‘Keep having a Brat Summer’ thing is a little bit cringe?”
It then cuts to an mix of footage from the actual live shows and fictional backstage antics, as her team debate how they can “keep this whole ‘Brat’ thing going” without losing momentum.
Kylie Jenner is also seen comforting an emotional Charli and telling her to ignore naysayers, while Skarsgård’s character is seen struggling to market the pop star “without offending anyone”, and questioning if she is singing “literally or metaphorically” about cocaine.

“Everybody is so desperate for me to be fucking innovative all the time and fucking cool. Everybody is like ‘What do you want?’ Well I don’t fucking know what I fucking want’,” Charli is later seen shouting in a car, leading to an awkward moment with her colleague. Charli XCX spoke to Vanity Fair earlier this year about the project, which is one of her many film jobs lined up for 2026, and shared the tongue-in-cheek inspiration for The Moment.
“It’s not a tour documentary or a concert film in any way, but the seed of the idea was conceived from this idea of being pressured to make one,” she said.
The latest trailer also comes as she recently told fans that she was “currently feeling more inspired by film than I am by music”, saying: “I’m enjoying acting, I’m enjoying writing, I’m enjoying watching and I’m above all enjoying discovering a new craft. Those things feel really enriching and instinctual to me at the moment.”
Other projects she has lined-up on the big screen include a role in the indie drama Erupcja, as well as appearances in the satirical thriller Sacrifice, a role opposite Natalie Portman in The Gallerist, and an appearance in I Want Your Sex with Olivia Wilde.
She is also part of the queer fairytale 100 Nights Of Hero, and will be in Dakota Johnson’s directorial debut A Tree In Blue.
In terms of new music, Charli has also created the soundtrack album for Emerald Fennell’s Wuthering Heights adaptation, which will be released on February 11. From that soundtrack, she has already shared the single ‘Chains Of Love’, as well as ‘House’ which featured The Velvet Underground’s John Cale.
The forthcoming mockumentary following ‘Brat Summer’ comes as the ‘Von Dutch’ star dominated summer 2024 with her sixth album, its accompanying remix record, and the runaway cultural phenomenon that came with it.
Thanks to the huge response from fans, the singer had the ubiquitous lime green cover all over social media, and locked in major international arena shows and festival appearances, including a mammoth slot at The Other Stage at Glastonbury this summer.
