Clairo took the stage at Laneway Festival in Melbourne, Australia on Feb. 14 for a set including more than a dozen songs. As she reached the end — with a run spanning “Bags,” “Sexy to Someone,” and “Juna” — the singer-songwriter wasn’t quit ready to say goodbye. Instead, Clairo welcomed Charli XCX to the stage for the first live performance of “Sofia” since 2022.
“I think we could do it if we tried/If only to say you’re mine/Sofia, know that you and I/Shouldn’t feel like a crime,” they sang together, dancing around the stage before turning the microphone to the audience.
Later in the day, Charli shared an Instagram Story from backstage at the festival. She was joined by Clairo and Beabadoobee in the clip set to Ayesha Erotica’s “Yummy,” which boasts: “I do it for the girls and the gays, that’s it/The queens and the queers, yeah, they loving my shit.” When Charli posted the same video to TikTok, it was captioned: “My valentines.”
Later in the night, Charli delivered a headlining performance at Laneway Festival. Her set spanned 18 songs including the “365,” “Spring Breakers,” and “Sympathy Is a Knife” as well as “Girl, So Confusing” remix which features Lorde. It’s also one of Clairo’s personal favorites.
“I love that song. I mean, they’re both geniuses to me. Charli has been someone I’ve looked up to forever, and same thing with Lorde,” the singer told Apple Music last year. “I just couldn’t appreciate what they’re doing more. It’s really cool and extremely necessary, and I think there was a gap that needed to be filled.”
Throughout the day, the festival hosted appearances from Remi Wolf, Olivia Dean, Djo, Beabadoobee, Barry Can’t Swim, and more.
